Overview

Julie is Of Counsel in the Litigation practice group, where she represents clients in a variety of commercial litigation contexts, including in cases involving contracts, employment, and real estate disputes. She routinely serves clients in the financial services and healthcare industries and has first and second-chaired trials in state and federal court and hearings in various arbitration forums. She enjoys helping her clients navigate the legal landscape to successful and efficient resolutions.

Experience

  • Represent a hospital in significant litigation against a former physician employee and executive. The case involves several claims and counterclaims relating to the physician's departure from employment with our client and his decision to work for a competitor hospital in violation of his non-competition covenant, as well as disputes relating to compensation issues. After extensive discovery, the firm defeated the physician's motion for summary judgment as to the alleged unenforceability of his non-competition covenant. The case remains ongoing.
  • Represent employees and employers in cases involving restrictive covenant and tortious interference claims, including cases involving healthcare employers and physicians and other medical personnel.
  • Represent national bank in litigation and arbitration relating to allegations of elder financial abuse.
  • Assist healthcare clients with municipal citations from the City of Atlanta and other area municipalities relating to business licenses and other issues.
  • Obtained summary judgment in federal court for an insurance broker in a coverage dispute.
  • Obtained summary judgment in federal court for a national bank to recover almost a half million dollars when its former customers made withdrawals from their accounts to avoid a garnishment action.
  • As a volunteer lawyer with Georgia Justice Project’s record restriction clinic, represented over twenty clients in obtaining restrictions to their criminal records and related court files and helped one client successfully file a petition for pardon to the State Board of Pardon and Paroles relating to a ten-year old non-violent felony conviction.
