overview

Brian Aton is a senior associate in Parker Hudson’s Complex Litigation and Restructuring group, where he represents businesses, financial institutions, and other stakeholders in complex Chapter 11 cases, bankruptcy litigation, and distressed situations nationwide.

Brian’s practice centers on complex and high-profile Chapter 11 cases and other restructuring matters, where he develops and drives strategy across every phase — from the first signs of distress through confirmation, appeals, and post-confirmation disputes. He litigates a broad range of bankruptcy matters, negotiates Chapter 11 plans and settlements, and advises clients on asset sales and assignments across a variety of industries.

He has particularly deep experience in mass tort bankruptcies, representing some of the world’s largest insurers in dozens of complex tort cases across the country, including trials and appeals. As a key member of the Complex Litigation and Restructuring team handling these cases, Brian helps negotiate settlements worth hundreds of millions of dollars in the aggregate. When settlement is not possible, his advocacy secures court decisions that protect his clients’ balance sheets while shaping the developing law.
