ATLANTA, June 18, 2018 – Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP is pleased to announce the addition of former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, Emily Shingler, as Counsel on the firm's Healthcare team. "We are thrilled to welcome Emily to the firm," said Parker Hudson's Managing Partner, Wayne Hillis. "Her diverse and robust experience will help round out Parker Hudson's multi-disciplinary healthcare practice."
“Emily is a great addition to our team," said Jon Rue, co-leader of the firm's Healthcare practice. "Her experience representing the United States in health care investigations will enhance our ability to assist clients navigating complex compliance and regulatory matters. More and more, our clients are seeking advice in this area, so adding Emily to our team of experienced attorneys helps us address those demands."
Emily joins Parker Hudson from the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's office, where she led several False Claims Act investigations. She understands first-hand the working relationships between the Department of Justice, the Office of Inspector General and other federal and state agencies in investigating health care providers and can draw upon that expertise in advising clients navigating complex investigations.
At Parker Hudson, Emily joins former Assistant U.S. Attorney, Bob Brennan, who has defended clients in government investigations since joining the firm in 2006. Together, Bob and Emily will focus on complex civil litigation, including Qui Tam and False Claims Act investigations and litigation, white collar criminal defense, health care compliance and internal investigations. Emily's arrival, coupled with adding Tracy Field in 2017, strengthens the Firm's ability to work across the spectrum of regulatory, reimbursement, investigations and compliance matters. "Tracy's practice complements mine, given her experience working as a healthcare provider, an in-house compliance officer for a large hospital system, and her established practice representing clients in reimbursement and regulatory matters over the past 25 years" said Bob Brennan. The Firm's reimbursement expertise is rounded out by Jon Rue, who represents hospitals, physicians and other providers in litigating reimbursement disputes involving Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payors.
In working to meet its client needs, Parker Hudson also works closely with a certified coder and former government auditor. This interdisciplinary approach enables the Firm to fully understand and address client needs in an inclusive and cost effective manner.
“I am thrilled to be joining Parker Hudson's exceptional healthcare team. I look forward to building upon Parker Hudson's existing expertise in this area by drawing upon my experience as an AUSA to help clients navigate through government investigations and complex compliance and regulatory matters.”
Parker Hudson's Healthcare practice encompasses nearly 20 attorneys in Georgia and Florida focusing on corporate, regulatory, compliance, and civil litigation services to health industry clients, including specialized representation in mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and reimbursement matters, and complex litigation in state and federal courts.
