The Georgia Justice Project (“GJP”) named Julie Wood its 2022 Sheandra Clark Volunteer of the Year. GJP presented the award during its annual Grass Roots Justice Awards on May 5, 2022. In honor of Sheandra Clark, each year a dedicated attorney with exceptional commitment to service as a GJP volunteer is selected for this award. Since 2017, Julie has volunteered at the GJP’s Criminal Records Clinic and has represented 19 clients.

For over 35 years, the GJP has focused on strengthening the community by providing better ways to represent and support individuals in the Georgia criminal justice system and reduce barriers to reentry. The GJP’s mission is to promote positive change through direct legal representation, policy advocacy, education, and coalition building. The GJP provides a range of direct services free of charge to support low-income people across the state of Georgia.
