Recruiting Law Students

Every summer, Parker, Hudson hosts a summer clerkship program for law students. Summer associates are invited to spend up to twelve weeks at the firm doing interesting and substantive work projects. Assignments given to summer associates are designed to provide a realistic preview of what it is like to practice law as an associate at the firm. We offer hands-on client interaction, such as attending depositions, hearings, client meetings and transactional closings, so that summer associates are exposed to the sophisticated nature of the firm's clients and practice areas. In addition to work assignments, we invite summer associates to participate in social events in order to get to know the attorneys at the firm as well as the cultural and social aspects of the City of Atlanta.

On-Campus Recruiting

Each Fall, our attorneys visit law schools and job fairs to recruit candidates to fill summer associate positions. We also welcome applications from law students attending law schools at which we do not conduct on-campus interviews.

Call-Back Interview Process

Following the on-campus interview process or job fair interviews, the firm invites qualified candidates to come to Atlanta and have a half-day of interviews at the firm. Typically, a student will arrive in Atlanta the afternoon before the call-back interviews in time to go to dinner with some of our attorneys. Candidates will spend the night in a local Atlanta hotel and then come to the firm the following morning for a half-day, which includes interviews and lunch. Alternative interview schedules are available upon request. Call-back interview logistics are handled by the firm and at the expense of the firm.

After call-back interviews, the firm will let candidates know whether they will receive an offer to join the firm's summer program.

Information about our Summer Program

If given an offer, students are invited to spend between a minimum of 6 weeks, up to a maximum 12 weeks at the firm. Students wishing to split their summer with another law firm in Atlanta are required to spend the first half of the summer at Parker, Hudson. Students who plan to split their summer with a law firm in another city may come during either half of the summer, however we prefer that summer associates spend the first half of the summer with us.

A mentor is provided to assist each summer clerk during his or her time at our firm. Summer clerks rotate through the firm's various practice groups and work on a variety of legal projects in an effort to expose them to the different practice groups of our firm and to as many attorneys as possible.

Testimonials

Melissa Martin Burton
Associate, Atlanta Office

"Parker Hudson's summer program gave me the opportunity to work on projects that are very similar to what I currently do as an associate. I also loved the field trips out of the office that allowed me to visit clients' business to see first-hand the types of industries that Parker Hudson serves."

Tim Gutenberger
Associate, Atlanta Office

"The summer program gave me the opportunity to gain meaningful experience in all of the firm's practice areas, including significant interaction with the partners in each group. As a result, I was able to decide with confidence that joining the Health Care team was the right fit for me."

John Mitchell
Associate, Atlanta Office

"Having great people who are also great lawyers is what makes Parker Hudson top notch, and the summer program really highlights this strength. By working closely with the lawyers on challenging work assignments in the office, and by socializing with these same people at the events outside of the office, I was really able to get to know the people at the firm during my time as a summer associate."

Robyn Moore
Associate, Atlanta Office

"The best part about the summer program at Parker Hudson was that I had a chance to rotate through all of the firm's practice areas and I was able to get to know everyone--attorneys and staff. I finished the summer with a realistic picture of what my first year as an associate would involve, which gave me one less thing to worry about during my last year of law school."

Ty Morrison
Associate, Atlanta Office

"After spending the summer at Parker Hudson, I knew I had found the perfect place for me. It was clearly evident from my rotation through the various practice groups that this mid-sized firm had the same sophisticated practice as the big firms in town and was committed to producing quality work product. But that is not what sealed the deal for me. The people who worked here truly seemed like members of an extended family. From the partners to the associates to the staff members, no one was just a name. Everyone had an open door and invested time to get to know each other. It seemed that everyone understood the importance of enjoying the company of the people with whom you would spend the majority of your day. Over four years later, my feelings still remain the same."

Angelica Saavedra
Associate, Atlanta Office

"One of the best things about the summer associate program was that I was integrated into each team for at least two weeks during the summer. By the end of the summer I had the opportunity to interact on some level with every attorney and every team. This gave me a very good idea about the type of work involved in each practice group and how the attorneys work together as a team."
